Travelers indulge in a street snack while sightseeing in London

Americans are not the only people crazy for food trucks. Trailers, carts and vintage vans selling various gourmet food items have been cropping up throughout the streets of the U.K. and even sparked the official British Street Food Awards in 2010. Travelers who book cheap flights to London should watch out for these mobile eateries as they tour the city.

Cafe Mor's handmade flatbread, stuffed with catch-of-the-day seafood from the shores of Pembrokeshire, is one reason the mobile eatery won the overall "best of the best" at the 2011 awards festival. Owner Jonathan Williams guarantees that the seafood his customers eat is 100 percent local and freshly caught.

More than just lobster rolls and traditional British breads, the street cafe also offers refreshing beverages like La Bomba. The drink is a combination of freshly blended tomatoes and a dash of lime, honey, olive oil and tabasco served as a shot and topped with shellfish. La Bomba, and other prize-winning items from Cafe Mor, will please the palates of the top athletes in the world at the 2012 Olympics in London.

Travelers who book cheap flights to the UK can also look out for Street Kitchen, a food cart that won the "best dish" category for their slow-roast pork shoulder with coleslaw, pickled apples and mustard dressing.
