Discover the intimate Linderhof Palace in Munich, Germany

With only four rooms that have any real function, the Schloss Linderhof Palace in Munich is relatively minuscule compared to its contemporaries, such as Edinburgh, Windsor or Prague Castle. When booking cheap flights to Germany, vacationers can visit the stunning estate and tour the inside of the royal building.

A rather quiet palace, it is nestled in a valley at the foothills of the Bavarian Alps. The building was constructed by King Ludwig II of Bavaria, and was the smallest of the three castles he built for himself - as well as the only one he saw the completion of before his death.

When travelers embark on a tour of the palace, they will discover that despite its small size, the castle was Ludwig's favorite home, and was built upon the site of his father's old cottage. Traces of inspiration from Versailles palace can be found everywhere in its decor and surrounding gardens. Known as a recluse, Ludwig did not typically invite guests to his Linderhof home - instead, he used his audience chamber to study and hone his knowledge in art and architecture.

During the tour, travelers can hear stories of Ludwig's bizarre nature and his absolutist beliefs that he was anointed by God to be king. Book cheap flights to Munich and witness this intimate and stunning work of architecture.
