Get a vertical workout during the Skyrun

Dec 27, 2011
After travelers take cheap flights to Germany, they may want to stretch their legs and move around a bit. Luckily, if they happen to be in Frankfurt this May, they have a chance to receive a one-of-a-kind workout during the city’s Skyrun event.

During this athletic competition, everyone from professionals to amateurs has a chance to race to the top of Germany’s second-tallest skyscraper – Frankfurt’s Messeturm. This 63-floor structure also happens to be the second-tallest building in Europe.

While the trek to the top of this tower can be grueling, Skyrun is lighthearted in nature. Should travelers choose to tackle the Messeturm’s 1,344 steps, they will also join local fire brigades who are racing for a good cause.

If visitors to Frankfurt would prefer to simply admire other Skyrun competitors, they can join spectators, as well as the radio hosts and DJs who will be on hand to make sure everybody is having a good time.

When travelers take cheap flights to Frankfurt, they may also notice the city’s other famous skyscraper – the Commerzbank Tower, which rises 985 feet into the air.
