Throughout the city during the annual Dublin Theater Festival you will find the best of Irish acting on display. Theater companies from around the world perform both original works and new productions of old favorites from both Ireland and around the world. Both theater aficionados and normal theater goers will enjoy all that is to offer.

When it comes to miniature toy collecting no one does it better then the Dublin Toy and Train Fair. Over 50 dealers from Britain and the USA converge on Clontarf Castle Hotel in Dublin and show eager collectors their wares. The hotel’s conference hall is packed full with collectable toys of all varieties, including Meccano construction sets, Corgi and Dinky models, lead soldiers, comics, wartime annuals, teddies and jigsaws just to name a small portion of what there is to offer.

Each year the locals gather around Dublin’s Christ Church Cathedral to hear the Bells ring in the New Year. You’ll want to remember to dress warmly and show up a little early because it becomes very difficult to get a place inside, but sitting just outside on the grass can be just as special. Traditionally, revelers are treated to a peal of 16 rings at midnight, or 19 if possible. Don’t forget to bring your flask or warming liquid.
