Santa’s Neighbourhood
Syntagma Square, Athens
December, 2010

In December, Syntagma Square in Athens is transformed with beautiful Christmas decorations into quite a Christmas market. Cabins in the Town of Treats sell local pastries and sweets. At Santa’s Workshop children can watch as the elves create toys and play and chat with St. Basil himself (as he is known in Greece) and get to know his magical world. There is also an antique carousel that dates all the way back to 1886 on display with vividly-painted horses and carriages. In the middle of the square is a large Christmas tree decorated with fairy lights and colorful balls.
